Patti Mandram – Muthamizh Vizha 14

The GCT auditorium was swarming with students, all eagerly waiting for the “Patti Mandram”, the Tamil debate which has always guaranteed the audience its fair share of  entertainment. The judge for the Muthamizh Vizha ’14  Patti Mandram was Mrs. Punitha Ekambaram, Head of the Tamil Department, Government College of Arts and Science. Talking about the event, she mentioned that the word the “Patti” in Tamil means ‘to advocate’. She also appreciated the selected topic for the debate i.e. “Is today’s young generation progressing in the right  or wrong direction “. The participants for the debate were Mr. Arumai Raj, HOD Civil Engineering Department(M.E.),  Mr. N. Anand raj and Mr. Muthusamy, all representing the young generation going in the right direction, while Mr. Anbazhagan Vijay, Asst. Professor, English dept. , Ms. S. Ranjitha and Mr. E. Giridharan made up the opposite team.

Every debate will have a star speaker who keeps the audience engaged with his/her comic and intellectual talk. This year’s Patti Mandram also had not one but many star speakers who  made it a memorable morning for all gathered audience. Anand raj and Muthusamy received the loudest applauds from the audience. The various activities of the youngsters in social media, colleges, and  the Prakriti’14 the event organized by the Green Club had a special mention in the debate for the zero use of paper.

Well, after about two hours of debating it was time for the judge to announce the winning side. The judge declared that the young generation is on the right direction, saying that the youngsters though spoiled by the various technologies, still has the humane inside  them which encourages help others in trouble. The debate then came to an end with the judge placing a request for inviting her for the next year’s debate too.
